Hurrah! The moment we’ve all been waiting for has arrived: The MAT 16X8 is officially available for pre-order worldwide via Thomann! To be completely honest, the road to this point was longer and more complicated than I ever anticipated. But we made it, and I couldn’t be prouder. I really wanted to offer it at an even lower price point, but the unexpected, massive development effort combined with rising supplier costs along the way simply didn’t allow for it. However, the extra time was put to excellent use: the MAT 16X8 has already proven its performance and reliability in numerous…

It has been a long road — longer than any of us anticipated. But today I have great news. I am happy to announce that we will be starting the final production of the first batch within the next few days. I recently received the latest prototypes, and they meet every single requirement. The order for a larger production run has been placed. Unfortunately, we didn’t make it in time to open pre-orders for this year’s Superbooth. An external issue caused yet another delay of over two months, and on top of that, several components became temporarily unavailable. I never…

It has been quiet for a long time, and we have been busy revising the MAT16X8 to make it fit for CE and FCC certification. Now I have some fantastic news! I am very pleased to announce that the MAT 16X8 has now successfully undergone and passed the rigorous CE and FCC tests. This important milestone is crucial because it officially confirms that the prototype is ready for series production and meets all the legal requirements necessary for market entry. This clears the way for the start of mass production, and I am now focusing all my energy on the…

We had an absolutely fantastic time at this year’s Superbooth! Even though the MAT 16X8 isn’t available just yet due to some final hurdles with CE and FCC certification, the interest and excitement around it were once again incredible. We can hardly wait to finally bring it to market – the anticipation is growing on our end, too! The event was filled with inspiring conversations, wonderful people, and many new connections. The positive feedback I received has been tremendously encouraging – it fuels my motivation to keep pushing this project forward with even more passion. Big surprise, Richie Hawtin! One…

It should have gone much faster… Unfortunately, there has been a major setback in my project. The MAT16X8 should have been finished long ago. The design was made even more robust by adding an extra protective layer to the outer sides. 10 new prototypes were made and tested. Everything looked good, all running smoothly. The prototypes were then sent to the test laboratory to ensure the electromagnetic compatibility in order to be certified for CE and FCC. This is a mandatory step to ensure they meet the necessary standards for sale. Contrary to expectations and despite previous tests, they did…

In the meantime, several of the prototypes have proven their flawless function at many live events and in studio sessions. In fact, there was not a single problem with connections breaking or poor signal quality, for example. The construction also proved to be very robust and survived all transportation unprotected in a backpack or bag. It simply does its job without any problems, which is great. Meanwhile I also was performing several gigs in Munich downtown at “Bikini Mitte” bar … … as also with “ambiosonics” at he “Glockenbachwerkstatt” in Munich centre … … and several more private gigs where…

Here is an update on the status of the development: Unfortunately everything is taking a little longer than planned, but we are just about to start production of a final test series of the finished product. This then has to be extensively tested and certified again. If everything goes well, which I very much hope, series production will then start. So, please be patient, things are still progressing. Keep your fingers crossed that I can still master the last challenges. I’ll keep you up to date. I’ve been a bit cautious with my predictions about the availability of MAT 16X8,…

8. – 10. May 2025 Berlin I am pleased to announce that we will be back at Superbooth 2025. You will find us in the same place as last year, at booth W241: https://www.superbooth.com/en/messe-and-exhibitors/exhibitors/modular-audio-tools.html https://www.superbooth.com/en/floorplan.html?location=W241 In a live setup, the possibilities of the MAT 16X8 as a complex digital mixing console and master effects unit are demonstrated in combination with an iPad and several hardware controllers, synthesizers and drum machines. I’m looking forward to meeting you there. Martin

I am proud to announce the MAT Modular Audio Tools GmbH Another important step has taken place: with today the 14th of August 2024, the creation of a limited liability company, “MAT Modular Audio Tools GmbH”, has officially taken place. At the time of this report is still in the process of being founded. “i.G.” means “in Gründung” (in foundation). It will only be complete once it has been entered in the commercial register. But that is only a matter of time and is more or less a formality. This means that I can now finally continue to develop.

It has been a little quiet around the MAT 16X8 in the last few weeks. I had to take care of my actual job and couldn’t work on it as much. But things are still going on. Three MAT 16X8s are currently in beta testing. They are used on stage, in small gigs in a bar, or even on mobile, battery-powered open air sessions in the park, and one is constantly traveling back and forth between Munich and Berlin. Everything works as expected and although the prototypes are partly built with hand-soldered wires inside, they prove to be extremely robust.…
